I restore top end vintage carpenters planes manufactured by Wm Marples from 1930 to late 1960’s. In this instance after spectrometer check find that Paragon Crimson to be as close as can be found. It is an enamel and perfect to protect these beautiful planes.

Advantages: It is the hardest wearing enamel in the colour needed. And will protect these vintage planes for another 92 years for the next restorer.

Disadvantages: Non that any of us has found.

My son bought some of this paint in blue for his vice in blue. It went on so well I purchased some in grey. This is the best paint you can buy for your workshop.

Very easy to use if you spray, used this as my main primer on Myford castings, went on a treat with a light scotch brite cut back between the 3 light coats I applied. Thinned with the synthetic thinner a bit more than the manufacturer recommended but put light coats on which was OK.

Disadvantages: Wife did not like the smell of the thinners wafting through the garage to the house so make sure you wait till the other halfs out before starting up the compressor!

Extremely pleased with the results I got by spraying the parts after mixing with the recommended synthetic thinner, following the instructions, all worked out extremely well with a glass like, hard finish, very close to the colour on my myford ml7 which is about a 1958 model, various fitments came with the machine all with slightly different shades so this was a good average of all of them and probably what the factory machines left like back in the day.

Advantages: Very easy to use in a small spray gun on low air pressure when thinned at 10% thinner, fast drying to a tack without runs if you keep your distance.

Disadvantages: Will run if you thin too much or spray too close!

Advantages: I have used this paint before and so know it is an excellent product. I used this on some steel girders and they look good.

Disadvantages: None

Lovely paint to apply, but starts drying quite quickly, so don’t overwork it! Once dry, the finish is hard and durable, but can be prone to chipping, if you drop anything heavy onto the paint surface. All in all, a hard wearing and glossy paint.

Advantages: Smooth, glossy finish, which is hard wearing and durable.

Disadvantages: Can be prone to chipping, as it is so hard when dry.

It arrived in 2-3 days, good and secure packing, tape on lid and air tight plastic around the can, now I do this after painting. Colour is exactly what I need, I am restoring a record 52 vise, happy with it.

1St time using Paragon Enamel Paints, very happy, fast delivery, well packed. The Castrol Green looked great.

Advantages: I bought both paint & thinner. A small tin of Enamel goes a long way. Tried both hand painting & spraying with good results

Disadvantages: I had forgotten how much longer an Enamel paint takes to dry. But if you let it dry in its own time you get a shiny hard finish
