Proper paint!

Advantages: Rapid hardenining, sands well.

Disadvantages: This will seem a little bluer than an original weathered Myford finish. It is not however as dark a grey as the Trimite paint formerly sold by Myford Ltd. Gloss is very high. I would probably go for a satin finish for future refurbishments.

Blue for Record vice is spot on, went on well and looks good dry.

Very happy with this. I purchased it for repainting a restored Marples vice. I am very pleased with the result. Not sure if it is the same green from Marples Hibernia, but it looks close enough to me.

Advantages: Aerosol spray paint version gives a great hard finish.

Disadvantages: Goes on thick, so remember to keep some distance to avoid too much paint pooling.

I would not normally buy Paragon paint (this was a first) and only did so because of the relatively small volume required to complete a project... would have preferred 250ml, should it have been available, which would have been plenty so I've probably enough to recoat the job a dozen times now... such is life!
As to the paint itself I was most impressed with the film build, ease of application (brushing), good flow whilst keeping a wet edge and fast drying time. A second coat was applied after ca. 12 hours with perfect result. Colour match to BS 5252F 1976 color matching fan was nigh on perfect. The paint is for an outdoor project so it will be interesting to see how it weathers. Given the reasonable price I would certainly use Paragon paints again where small quantities are required.
All in all an excellent product.

Disadvantages: When will the paint industry return to putting their paint into decent quality tins... todays cans especially the lid lips bend as if they were paper?

Not very impressed with he aerosol.After acouple of seconds a 'blob' of paint cameout and went on the item i was spraying.I will have to rub it down and have another go. I gave the can at least 2 minutes shake and the emperature was about 20C so it should have been fine.

Disadvantages: Want a continous fine spray no 'blobs'

Brilliant, have used this paint for years, most recently in restoring a 1961 Harrison 5a lathe.

Advantages: Easy application by brush or roller. I find it works best applied in cool conditions as it takes longer to dry and brush or roller marks disappear more effectively. Used in warm weather it starts to go off quite quickly which can be awkward if doing a large area, and you get some brush marks. Once dried it is very tough and resistant to scratching and wear. If used on aluminium you must first use an etch primer, on steel or cast iron you can paint straight into the bare metal and it covers very well. Have never needed more than two coats. Have never tried spraying it so can't comment on that.

Disadvantages: Can go off in a partially used tin. Make sure you turn the tin upside down once the lids on to get a good seal and keep air out. If it does thicken then the addition of some synthetic thinner soon sorts it out.
