Purchased this to renovate my collection of old G clamps. I was advised over the phone to go for the semi gloss as this is in keeping with Record's colour scheme.
I was pleasantly surprised how much coverage you get from a 1/2 litre tin. I've managed to paint 8 clamps, 3 large vices and a wood turning lathe with 3/4 of the tine.
The paint contains good pigmentation so I found a single coat on bare metal is sufficient with most castings.
You need to be well prepared and work quickly on large smooth surfaces to avoid the paint dragging. (this maybe down to climatic conditions) For such surfaces a few drops of white spirit helps prolong the wet edge. This could effect the gloss finish so experimentation is advisable
I found by dispensing smaller quantities in yogurt pots keeps the original paint tin clean and uncontaminated.
Runs can occur, so advisable to paint in the flat until the paints skin hardens
NB. Spray finish maybe more suitable for large smooth areas.

Carriage could seem expensive for a single small tin. I bought Smoke Grey at the same time for a future Boxford Lathe renovation to make it more cost effective.

I discovered this website on a vice restoration forum. The Record blue was what I was after and this paint is a great match. Ordering was easy and delivery was swift.

Its good paint, matches perfectly to the oem colour, just wish my painting skills could do it justice.

This is the second time I have purchased this paint and it gives an excellent finish; smooth and very easy to apply to bare steel or pre-painted metal. Paint tin lid is taped and clipped and tin itself is well packed so completely safe in transit. Will definitely buy again from this supplier.

Delighted with the quality and depth of colour.

Not rating myself as a painter, however the results on using the Harrison Beige Gloss paint were really good. No runs! great finish

Excellent product , value for money

Disadvantages: Poster arrived folded into A4 envelope so has creases , I would have preferred it being sent in a tube and may have even paid extra postage for the benefit. Call me OCD but i like my posters without big creases.

Very easy to use if you spray, used this as my main primer on Myford castings, went on a treat with a light scotch brite cut back between the 3 light coats I applied. Thinned with the synthetic thinner a bit more than the manufacturer recommended but put light coats on which was OK.

Advantages: Easy to use when spraying

Disadvantages: Wife did not like the smell of the thinners wafting through the garage to the house so make sure you wait till the other halfs out before starting up the compressor!

I had been using a tin of this paint which was a few years old and struggling to get a smooth finish so I bought a new tin and it was superb and a delight to use.

Advantages: It made painting a satisfying experience and certainly helped to relieve the trauma caused by watching people being vaccinated in every news bulletin

Only tried the tin at the moment, not the aerosol.
In terms of application & drying time etc. this is like going back to the original "Hammerite" of 30 years ago. Completely knocks spots of that brand as it is now.

To soon to say what it's like in terms of rust protection.

Advantages: Good hammered effect. Quick drying, easy to apply. Not gloopy and slow drying like Hammerite is now. This will now be my first stop for hammered finish.

Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage, but this "Mid-blue" is actually quite flourescent looking, and lighter than it appeared on my monitor.

You need this thinner for thinning enamels & cleaning

Advantages: A must for thinning enamel for spraying or cleaning brushes

Disadvantages: Use the wrong thinner with the enamel & it will go sticky & take ages to dry

It arrived in 2-3 days, good and secure packing, tape on lid and air tight plastic around the can, now I do this after painting. Colour is exactly what I need, I am restoring a record 52 vise, happy with it.

Same colour used on late model Harrison M250 M300 (actually light cream colour) with RAL 3005 red wine splash guard.

Advantages: Excellent paint, superb results with a small gloss roller.

Advantages: I wanted to avoid using aerosols and enjoy using this traditional-style hand applied finish.

I used this as base for an enamel top coat. Quite thick but can be thinned, easy to apply and covers small scratches and defects well. Dry’s quickly and sanded well with wet and dry paper.

Advantages: Good for building layers on slight imperfections.

Disadvantages: None found as yet. Does what it says on the tin.
