Myford Lathe Grey

Great paint to use. Its made my Myford lathe look like new.

Advantages: Good coverage and dries well.

Disadvantages: None

Had my doubts but I found that this is a brilliant paint to work with. Fantastic coverage and at the right price.

Advantages: Truth is I am not a good painter ( very much in the style of Picasso ) didn't have to worry it went on well.

Disadvantages: none

Disadvantages: Long drying time between coats (16 hours).

Advantages: Rapid hardenining, sands well.

Disadvantages: This will seem a little bluer than an original weathered Myford finish. It is not however as dark a grey as the Trimite paint formerly sold by Myford Ltd. Gloss is very high. I would probably go for a satin finish for future refurbishments.

Not very impressed with he aerosol.After acouple of seconds a 'blob' of paint cameout and went on the item i was spraying.I will have to rub it down and have another go. I gave the can at least 2 minutes shake and the emperature was about 20C so it should have been fine.

Disadvantages: Want a continous fine spray no 'blobs'

Using a quality brush good prep and a warm day the finish was excellent.

Advantages: Good finish with either brush or roller if instructions followed.

Disadvantages: Can't find any to date.

Great paint to use by brush or spray gun. Once dry its hard and resists oil and cutting fluid very well. Leave plenty time for the first coat to go off before rubbing down or applying a second coat to avoid streaks.

Advantages: Perfect colour match for my myford super seven (1959 vintage) and if applied with a tissue in a dabbing action it will match perfecty paint thats been damaged with oils and the like. Very easy to use. Gives great coverage on 1 coat as well.

Disadvantages: Can be hard to remove streaks in the paint when brushing it on even to a well prepared surface. The drying times are effected a fair bit if the temperature is lower, but that's to be expected i guess.

Can't fault the product, but get the hang of it before rushing in on a job...

Advantages: Great colour. Looks super (in the places where it worked out..!)

Disadvantages: This isn't easy paint to apply - especially for a newb like myself. You'll need a bit of practice, otherwise you're going to end up with brush marks a-plenty... but there you have it - nothing worthwhile's ever easy..!

Fantastic paint, brought my machine back to life!

This is the second tin of paint I've had and it's just as good as the can I purchased last year. Excellent colour match.

Advantages: High coverage and easy to either brush or when mixed with the correct thinners sprays really well.

Disadvantages: None that have bothered me. It is a very good paint and dries to provide a tough finish every time.

Myford grey gloss paint. Initially thought a wee bit expensive. However on using the paint became obvious this was good quality product. Easy to apply. A good dense paint with good pigment. Covered entire lathe cabinet in one coat. (Was originally blue colour). Finished when dry lo to a hard shiny finish.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. 10/10.

Fabulous paint - gives a lovely finish with a brush if you are careful and goes a long way - a 500ml easily covered my Myford lathe, drip tray and cabinet.

Advantages: Easy to apply and settles well giving lovely finish. Looks fantastic and the smell is reminiscent of model enamels from my youth.

Disadvantages: Like any paint can be prone to runs which can be sliced off next day and recovered easily.

Superb quality, primer gives great cover on a prepared surface, i left this for 24hrs then de-nibbed with a fine scotch brite pad, applying the Gloss with a mini roller. A proper professional finish.

Extremely pleased with the results I got by spraying the parts after mixing with the recommended synthetic thinner, following the instructions, all worked out extremely well with a glass like, hard finish, very close to the colour on my myford ml7 which is about a 1958 model, various fitments came with the machine all with slightly different shades so this was a good average of all of them and probably what the factory machines left like back in the day.

Advantages: Very easy to use in a small spray gun on low air pressure when thinned at 10% thinner, fast drying to a tack without runs if you keep your distance.

Disadvantages: Will run if you thin too much or spray too close!

Very fast delivery and very nice to apply by brush with good results

I initially bought the gloss paint but after a painting quite a few of the components I decided it was just too glossy for a lathe. I then purchased the Satin version thinking that would be more like the original - the colour difference between the 2 was quite distinct with the gloss being much darker and the satin with more of a brown / green (yes both stirred very well!). Both paints in isolation would work well, the fact that i had them side by side makes the colour difference stand out - neither really match the original but i guess that is 40 years old. In the end i decided the Satin was too matt and have settled for a 50:50 mix of both - very nice....

Great product along with great service. The enamel arrived superbly packaged. It covers very well and is easy to work with. I’d recommend this paint and service.

Nice n' easy brushing enamel, Use best bristle brush available as this paint will drag if overbrushed or overworked as it starts to film within a few seconds, so get your finish on soon as possible. Next day dry enough to assemble parts but probably needs a week to cure properly.

Advantages: Brushed paint smooths out quickly. Dries very hard.

Disadvantages: Overbrushed work leaves bad brush marks.
